What is the best type of mattress to buy
Difference between the various types of mattress
Latex Mattress
The latex is a milky material derived from plant or rubber "blanket" (Hevea brasiliensis), extracted especially in tropical forests of South-East Asia, mainly Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Indonesia . In some cases it is also used latex extracted dall'Hevea guianensis, belonging to the same plant species (Euphorbiaceae), but well below the quality extracted from Hevea brasiliensis prized plants. There are also non-tropical plants producing latex, such as parthenium Argentatum or Russian dandelion (Taraxacum kok-saghyz).
In this case, the extraction rates and overall quality are well below the latex extracted from Hevea. Even in the latter two cases, the overall quality of the latex obtained is much lower compared to that obtained dall'Hevea brasiliensis. Even among the same extracts dall'Hevea brasiliensis, are characterized as more or less valuable: that extracted from some special plantations of Malaysia and Sri Lanka is certainly high quality. The latex can also be synthesized to improve and stabilize the natural compound and to ensure a longer life. The manufacturer's choice to use one or the other, or to use latex compounds, determines, and finally a lot, the sale price! Latex is completely sterile, so resistant to mites, antibacterial, antifungal, and hypoallergenic. It looks like a highly elastic porous foam and remarkably breathable. It may be of variable density depending on your needs and is deformable. This latter feature allows it to adapt (ergonomics) to the body giving a balanced support to the body and especially not create trauma to the spine, does not compress the muscles, tendons and veins, in fact, even makes a great massage function. And 'totally static. Does not retain liquids and moisture. The procedure for creating the material (vulcanization) requires only molecules of natural air and heat in microwave ovens, special high pressure. Its resilience is high! Prevents and alleviates disease resulting from pressure sores. Even for the latex mattress pads can be of various materials, from simple wool / cotton-based fibers of wool, cotton and silk and completely new generation hypoallergenic, antistatic, antibacterial, antifungal and mites, due to specific industrial processes , but absolutely not harmful to humans. To be fully appreciated in need of slatted wood, preferably of beech, much better if mounted on supports damping rubber material or rubber, to allow further beneficial overall ergonomics.
Springs Mattress
The mattresses of this type are the most common, with steel springs and gears of different shapes and sizes making them more or less rigid. They are older and their technology now largely obsolete, dating back to the '50s! This type of product is popular version, the so-called, orthopedic (very hard) and therefore does not adapt to the various points of different weights of the body (pelvis, shoulders, head, legs). Between spring mattresses can find a more advanced product made with cylindrical springs, independent who adapt, but only partially, the different weights of the body (ergonomics). In both cases can then be made with various padding materials: wool, cotton, flax, linen, silk, or hypoallergenic fiber. The independent spring mattresses have the characteristic of being less rigid in the traditional spring mattress. Not guarantee high standards of hygiene (if only partially covers the use of fine fabrics and chemically pre-treated), retain the moisture produced by the body and the environment, create and promote accumulation of dust inside the proliferation of mites , create and rusty scrap iron in favoring the onset of allergies, even severe, attract and retain any type of electromagnetic wave. Lead, finally, dangerously electricity.
Wool Mattress
Wool is a material that attracts the electromagnetic waves, maintains a constant body temperature, is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture easily), soft and durable. The major drawbacks of the total wool stuffing mattresses are rapidly deformed, not to ensure sufficient ergonomics and having to be completely disassembled for carding wool at least every two years. The wool mattresses are not suitable in situations of very long immobility in bed. Their maintenance is complicated and the procedures are expensive as buying a new mattress. They are now practically obsolete, and almost impossible to find on the market are few and mattress craftsmen to build them and often do not use wool certified quality, affecting the whole, the level of hygiene and comfort in sleep. Their request is now almost running out and the user is being increasingly often in the range of groundwater with merino wool mattress covers (with or without resistance thermoelectric bedwarmers). Preferable to focus on other mattresses that, rather than with the complete filling of wool, presenting only one side surface in wool (winter side).
Polyurethane Mattress
Polyurethane is a fully synthetic material derived from hydrocarbon (oil) at low cost. Can be used alone or covered with polyester for increased softness. Although it has an elastic resilience (ability to return in their own physical shape immediately after compression) is absolutely incomparable with respect to the bottom and latex. The procedure for creating the material requires water molecules. She does not shine at all for breathability and a tendency to conserve body heat and the environment too, up to intolerance. May cause skin irritation, contact dermatitis and other similar reactions, mainly due to its high hydrocarbon polymer composition. Tends to deform quickly. Ergonomically poor. The polyurethane is, mostly used for industrial packaging and components of upholstered furniture (sofas, car seats, etc..).
Viscoelastic Memory Mattress
Often called a "shape memory", "memory form", "memory foam", "slow memory", "memoryforma", "watermemory", "waterform", "newlatex", etc.., For some year, but especially recently, are making their appearance-based mattresses poliueretanica (PU) derived from totally synthetic hydrocarbon (petroleum), but often not justified considerable cost, innovative and more sophisticated than those in normal polyurethane from which are derived . The creation process requires, for this material of U.S. origin (NASA - 70), molecules of water. NASA developed this synthetic material not for the astronauts to sleep but for the sessions of their seats, so as to absorb the tremendous thrust during launch. They have just enough characteristics of resilience, however, incomparable to that of typical latex mattresses. Their ergonomics are good, but too slow. They are characterized by unique, mostly negatively perceived, to be temperature sensitive and slow to resume its original shape, when subjected to compression from various parts of the body, but being, in fact, only partially and ergonomic exercising a "low pressure", leading to even be perceived as inconvenient, difficult for the body to turn around quickly, is often entwined. Do not shine for breathability and moisture produced by the replacement of body contact and the environment. Often, but especially in summer, contributing to the development of high and troublesome sweating. The synthetic mattresses tend to memory in every way to imitate the inimitable but peculiar characteristics of the true natural latex. The duration of viscoelastic mattresses synthetic memory, in general, is guaranteed only for a few years because so far it is unclear what the actual duration.
Composites Mattress
There are products on the market mixed as latex or latex and coconut and soft, latex and polyurethane, latex and silicone, latex and visco-elastic, etc.., But it can be defined as a second choice, oriented only to the attempt, not always achieved, 'reduction of the price, the product does not meet the criteria required for proper ergonomic high sleep.
Airbed mattresses
The current European legislation on the matter, do not include among those defined as "mattresses".
